NC Butterfly Houses and Gardens

N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences in Raliegh, N.C. has a Living Conservatory which contains butterflies, hummungbirds, forest turtles and fragance plants. Admission is free to the museum and Living Conservatory, but donations are welcome. The Conservatory is open year round. Located in Raleigh at 11 W. The nonprofit Charlotte Nature Museum's butterfly house is at Freedom Park. It is a 1,000 sq. ft. conservatory, 30' tall, that holds 150 live North American native butterfly species. It is located in Southeast Charlotte, adjacent to the Freedom Park at 1658 Sterling Road. For more information call 703-337-2671.

Magic Wings Butterfly House, at the Museum of Life and Sciences in Durham, is open year round, Tuesday- Sunday, 10 AM to 5 PM, and contains live tropical butterflies. VA Butterfly Houses and Gardens

Virginia Living Museum has a regular exhibition butterfly garden with nectar and host plants, plus a butterfly basing area, a puddling area and an area for overwintering of mourning cloak butterflies, including milkweed varieties for Momarch butterflies, etc. The Virginia Lving Museum is at 524 J. The Bristow Butterfly Garden at Norfolk Botanical Gardens is a 2 acre garden which provides a habitat to attract and support butterflies at all stages of their life cycle. Within the garden you will find a swallowtail and monarch nursery, nectar garden, moonlight garden and butterfly bush collection.
